PSG Overcomes Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Secure French Super Cup in Kuwait.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 different times.

The Parisian giants required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past Marseille in the Gulf and secure a fourth straight Trophee des Champions title.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league winners and the Coupe de France winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, the southern French side struck two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, the Portuguese striker snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all converted with composure for PSG to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this trophy for the 12th time in the past thirteen seasons.
